    YOGABLOOM CLASS ETIQUETTE

     

  • Arrive a few minutes early to allow yourself time to quiet down and breath.  You will get much more out of your class and avoid disturbing others.
  • Do not wear perfume or highly scented cosmetics, as many people are allergic to them.
  • Avoid wearing body lotion, especially on hands and feet as it can be dangerously slippery.
  • Try not to eat for at least two hours before a class.  You’ll avoid nausea and have more energy for your yoga practice.
  • Turn off your cell before class.
  • Let your teacher know about any changes in your condition and any new injuries.
  • For sanitary reasons it is best to bring your own mat, towel and personal props.
  • Make the clean- up into a meditative exercise.  Take the time to enjoy tidying up and arranging props neatly.
  • When you bring a guest, allow the teacher to do the teaching.  Avoid trying to correct their postures as you might overwhelm them.  The teacher will know what needs to be emphasized.  
  • Stay fully present with your personal practice.
  • Do respect the energy of the class.  Leave the socializing and catching up with your friends for later.
  • Stay fully present with the sensations and feelings that you are experiencing.  Enjoy the gift of each unique breath.
  • If you are experiencing pain tell your teacher so that modifications can be offered.
  • Delicious discomfort” is acceptable.  A sudden hot sharp pain in a small area is not.  Come out of the posture carefully and ask for help.
  • Treat yourself lovingly and you’ll experience the profound benefits of yoga.  Push yourself beyond your limits and you may develop unnecessary injuries.  If you’re not sure of the boundaries between over- exertion and an appropriate challenge err on the gentler side.
  • Notify your teacher, if you can’t make a class so someone else can fill your spot.
  • Complete the health questionnaire and release form located here and bring it with you to your first class.
  • Give the gift of yoga to everyone you care for.  They may not be ready to join you but may change their minds as they watch you bloom.
  • Have fun. “A smile is a curve that sets the world straight.”
